The original prototype was developed from the observation that door handles are more often pushed downwards with the palm of the hand than they are gripped. Based on this insight, a form has evolved in which the top area of contact is increased. The outcome is an ergonomic configuration, nearly anatomical, that calls back to mind an oar or a paddle.
